Moreno Michael - Biography
“Moreno Michael” was born in Caracas, Venezuela on September 30th
1967. He started his career dynamically on February 23rd in1989 impersonating
Michael Jackson in a show called “El Show de los Dobles”. Moreno
Michael´s real name is Larry Martínez.
He was given that pseudonym name after impersonating Michael Jackson while dancing
Merengue at a TV program called “Sábado Sensacional“ in 1989.
From that moment on, his career as a humorist rocketed and soon he creatively
started developing a variety of characterizations.
Moreno Michael is a versatile artist with brimming easiness to carry out interpretations.
He is an actor, an impersonator, a humorist and a musician. His potential has
surpassed the borders of the country where he was born, carrying out magnificent
presentations in many countries. Some of those countries are The United States
(Miami, New York, Orlando), Spain, Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao), Panama,
Colombia, Chile, Equator, Argentina and The Dominican Republic.
In 1994, Moreno Michael made a successful performance in the Madison Square
Garden during a humour festival. Furthermore, his routines in the Colombian
Humour Festivals in the years 92, 93, 94 and 96 were considered outstanding
by the public. Moreover, his triumphs reached Argentina where he received the
prize for the best funny show (1995) in Buenos Aires.
In the Americas his popularity has taken force also through TV programs of great
audience, such as “Don Francisco Presenta”, “Despierta América”,
“Sábado Gigante”, “La bola”, “900-Risas”,
“Las Metiches” (The Meddling).
Likewise, in Argentina with Tinely and “Hola Susana”, in "Video
Match" impersonating Michael Jackson when the real Michael was being presented
in Buenos Aires in 1993. Also Moreno Michael has had fabulous interpretations
in radio programs as in "Hágase la Risa” at Fiesta 106,5 FM
(1994-97)
The international path of this artist has let him share the stage with stars
such as Celia Cruz, Oscar d 'Leon, Olga Tañón, Luís Miguel,
Jerry Rivera, Gilberto Santa Rosa, , El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Ismael Rivera,
Cheo Feliciano, Ricardo Arjona, Shakira, Don Francisco, Vicente y Alejandro
Fernández, Servando y Florentino, Juan Luís Guerra, Juan Gabriel,
Tito Puentes, David Bisbal, among others.
In 2005, Moreno Michael enhances his hilarious style paying homage to Celia
Cruz in presentations called “Eternamente Azúcar” (Eternally
Sugar). Celia expressed in an interview for a Spanish television program that
Moreno Michael was the one who impersonated her best.
Nowadays , every Saturday, Moreno Michael is a comedian in the show "La
Guerra de los Sexos” presented in “Sábado Súper Sensacional”,
a popular Venezuelan TV program. He connects the public with his humor show
in a parody of "Don Francisco y el Chacal”, bringing in a huge TV
audience.
